Stage 1: CA-CPT: (Chartered Accountancy Common Proficiency Test)
This is an entry level exam for 10+2 passed students. Candidates can register for an article-ship with practicing CAs or CA firms on clearing the foundation course. It is required to be done for a period of 3 years. Candidates can also register for the next level after completion of 12 months of their training.
Stage 2: CA-IPCC: (Chartered Accountancy Integrated Professional Competence Course)
In this stage of CA, only working knowledge of core and allied subjects to accountancy profession is inculcated. This is the second level for all students taking up the chartered accountancy course after getting through the CA CPT (Chartered Accountancy Common Proficiency Test). The course duration is minimum 9 months. The minimum academic/ educational qualifications required are: firstly, a 10+2 pass out and secondly, a pass in the CA CPT conducted by ICAI.
Stage 3: CA-PCE: (Chartered Accountancy Professional Competence Examination)
The CA-PCE is held twice in a year in the months of May and November. It comprises of two groups. Candidate can appear, at one sitting, for both groups / group – I / group – II as the case may be subject to fulfillment of eligibility condition. Each group comprises of three papers as detailed below:
